Here is my final advert for my album, i have taken key codes and conventions from other adverts which i have analysed and applied them to my own advert. I have used synergy with the same fonts and layouts which are on my digipak cover to make a link between the two as i have not used the same image. I think it captures the theme of the album well because the artist is seen alone and looking out to the audience (extra-diagetic gaze) The colours are fairly pastel toned which makes his green hat stand out. The sun beaming onto the artists face gives the advert a natural lighting and not overly-edited like a lot of adverts may be.

TECHNOLOGY
Today i have exported my video to iMovie to continue working on the final footage on my own laptop! This proved quite difficult as the format is different and getting my project from Final Cut Pro to iMovie was rather complicated!
Anyway i managed to finally do it and am now polishing off my final cut!
It has been helpful for me to use a number of different technologies because it has broadened my knowledge and skills on Mac software!

DIGIPAK DRAFTS
I have experimented with the opacity of the background image and with cut-outs to back the tracklist stand out. The masthead font colour differs because i am trying to see which looks better depending on whether it matches the CD cover.

FEEDBACK UPDATE!
Today i issued a very short questionnaire about my second draft of my music video!
My target audience members say:
My target audience members say:
- The narrative now makes more sense
- The lip syncing is more precise
- They like more performance
But i need to:
- Fill in the blanks to complete the narrative
- Revise some of the performance clips and where they are placed
I will take all of these in to consideration for my next and hopefully final draft!! Thank you everyone who gave feedback!!

VIDEO UPDATE
So I had a bit of an issue with my video: whilst i was editing it, the main storyline kept attatching itself to the smaller clips and making it really hard for me to edit.
So i rethought my layout, I have now made my audio the main storyline in my project and all of the clips attatch to that. This is much easier!!
So i have been set back a few paces with the development of my video, however it is going well and i have managed to come up with a new timeline and changed the order of the clips to make my narrative more obvious.
Have a look:
The first minute of my video is basically done. However the rest only includes the performance elements as i am yet to develop the storyline...so there are a lot of gaps!!

VIDEO PRODUCTION UPDATE
Last Saturday i did my final video shoot with my brother and parents for the remainder of my narrative. I have made a spontaneous decision to include more of my artist in the narrative and have made a direct link between him and the young girl in my video. This will ultimately make my video more coherent to the audience straight away. I will upload the next draft of my video as soon as i import my new clips! Meanwhile, here are some pictures from the shoot which i may use for my digipak and poster ad:
These images show my grippy tripod attached to my banister to achieve a point of view shot from the young girl in my video.

ADVERT TEXTUAL ANALYSIS
This advert for 'The Verve' is very minimalistic, it contains the relevant information for the audience yet is reliant on them knowing who the band is because it does not contain a thumbnail of the album cover. The colours are pastel, with no bright bursts and this gives the poster a mellow tone just as we imagine the band to be. The image of landscape implies that the band would be Indie/rock, which they are, however because of the mellow tones the connotations of this are not rock music. They are again, focusing on the established audience who know about the band. The dark tones could connote an alternative group such as rock but this is not too obvious because of the white writing; suggesting purity or calm. The font of 'The Verve' suggests character and is their iconic font which adds synergy to the poster: making the connection instantly to other adverts or merchandise for the band. It is placed in the centre of the page on a contrasting background to capture the audiences attention.
This advert for Ed Sheeran captures his character through a representational image of him. The smile whilst looking down connotes innocence or ignorance to his success, the reference to the notion of looking also urges the viewer to look down as he is to the information stated about his album release. It is interesting to note that his name is in large letters which contrast to the background and the album symbol/name is placed underneath. This is important for the advert as it links all three major parts of information together; Ed's appearance (which also features on his album cover), his name (so that the audience can link a face to a name) and the album symbol/name (so that a customer can recognise it on itunes or in the shops). Orange is Ed Sheeran's signature colour therefore it features on alot of his promotional media and could act as synergy, it also denotes his hair colour which he is well known for. A thumbnail of the album cover is represented on the bottom left corner which will also make it easier for customers to recognise in the shops. For more promotion, a quotation from a music magazine is placed in white writing to state how successful the album is.
This advert is busier than the other two because it includes a background with images layered on top. The advert is in black and white except from the quote from a music magazine to promote the album, the fact that this is in colour makes it stand out and puts emphasis on how "superb" the album is. The date of release is stated in a large font as the album and band name is. The white font on a black background makes it stand out and connotes the musical genre, indie/rock. The advert contains images of the band as well as the name to give optimum exposure for the band and allow people to put a face to a name. Everything in the advert is centred to give a symmetrical layout and make the advert more appealing to the audience.
ADVERT RESEARCH
The advert i will create is a poster for my artist's single/album. The general codes and conventions are that it will include:
- the artist
- the song/album name
- the release date
- could feature the CD cover somewhere
Here are two types of adverts that appeal to me and would work with my artist:

I like the minimalist design of 'The Verve' however to promote my artist more, one like 'Ed Sheeran' may suit more.
I will create a poll for audience feedback on whether i shall include my arist on the poster or not.
DIGIPAK TEXTUAL ANALYSIS
This digipak is a 6 panel fold. Each panel has an image of the artist on, it therefore takes every opportunity to promote the artist and give the customer a number of extra images that may be special edition or would simply not be available on a normal CD. The front cover has the typical codes and conventions of a CD cover; the artists name, album name and an image of the artist. These codes and conventions make it easily recognisable for the customer to buy. This cover in particular has a landscape background with blues and greens and the artist seems to be holding a sombrero hat. These features denote the album name, 'Desert Rose' as well as connote the style of music that she plays. The big road sign in the background alongside the bright blue sky connotes lively or fairly upbeat music. Her dark, rock chick style clothing also connotes an up-tempo album, it also tells us that the artist is loud because she looks like she's going out to a party. The sombrero suggests partying because the Mexican connotations are all to do with fiesta's and festivals.
The three panels on show inside the digipak have orange tones to the images. This suggests a happy and calm side to the artist. The first panel (left > right) is a close-up of Ruby James, the artist and this gives the audience the opportunity to see close-up's as they would not see in real life. The image also has a caption just as the other images do. The middle panel holds the CD, however we can see that there is a faded image behind it which abides by the style of the digipak so far. The third panel has another image of the artist with a band mate. They are dressed in black and set in a formal room sitting on a sofa. The dark clothing combined with the orange tones suggests vibrant music as well as the personality of the artist. Their dress sense is indie/rock as we can see studs and the mans hat, shirt and tie are fairly informal as they are scruffy.
This digipak for Jeff Peterson is lively and upbeat. The theme and setting for the images is the countryside, this connotes his genre of music. On panel one we can see the background image is of two horses in a field and what is, presumably, Peterson on one of the horses. There is a lot of text on the panel which is something that many artists choose to include if they have a digipak because it is an opportunity for them to write messages to the fans about the particular album and give thanks to their production and management teams. This also appears on the middle panel, where there is an image of Peterson holding a guitar and wearing a Hawaiian necklace. This suggests light-hearted country or pop music and establishes him as the Hawaiian singer he is. The third panel is like an alternative CD cover, it includes his name, album name and a picture of him sitting on a fence in the countryside. The light colours in all the images portray Peterson as a mellow performer and the title of his album also denotes his style of music 'Maui on my mind'. The Digipak cover includes the codes and conventions of a typical CD cover; the artist with an instrument in an exotic location with the album name appearing across the image and the artists name to make it easily recognisable.
This digipak is different to the other two, it contains no image of the artist but instead has a piano keyboard along stretched across the three inside panels. The image of the piano is not a typical image because it includes the mechanics of the piano as well rather than the outer aesthetics. This suggests that the artist is more classical and is supported by the design of the CD itself, which is made to look like a vinyl record. The first panel of the digipak has text on it which acknowledges the production and management team, this is unlike Jeff Peterson's digipak which includes information and a message to the fans. This makes the digipak more formal and highlights the classical connotations. We can see that this digipak in particular has a pouch for a booklet behind the first panel; this is something that many digipaks include as it allows them to present more pictures or information to the fans. It is quite common for pop music CD's or digipaks which include this pouch for a booklet to have the lyrics to each song on the album in it. The lyrics will then be known to all the fans who buy the special digipak and encourage them to learn and be able to sing along to the music and at concerts.
DIGIPAK RESEARCH
So what is a Digipak?
A CD Digipak is quite a modern alternative to a standard CD case, they offer more image space on multiple covers and can hold more than one CD. Quite often they contain DVD footage of music videos or concerts as well as the album.

[4 panel digipak]
Digipaks are becoming more popular in the music industry for artists to promote as many of their products all at once. They give the product a professional look because they have 4 - 8 panels which leaves a lot of space for the artist to display images or information about the album.
My digipak will be 6 panels which opens out with space for the album as well as a DVD of music videos and concert footage. I will display a number of images for my digipak on the panels to give the best promotion of my artist.
Here are some examples of 6 panel digipaks:
